Factors affecting the prognosis of patients with delayed encephalopathy after acute carbon monoxide poisoning

Hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) remains controversial. But there is increasing evidence that its use early in more severe cases of poisoning can reduce the incidence of long-term problems, in particular the delayed neuropsychiatric syndrome.

New World Health Organisation guidelines

The WHO have just released their new guidelines for indoor air quality.
The new recommendation is a maximum permitted level of around SIX parts per million of CO averaged over a 24 hour period. This reflects the evolution of the way in which we understand CO toxicity.
